Kenard has been running an apprenticeship programme since 1980. We offer a four year modern apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering.

The first year, which has a duration of 36 weeks, is spent at college working towards the PEO (Performing Engineering Operations) Certificate and the ONC. Outside of the 36 weeks the apprentices are trained in various aspects of engineering, on our shop floor. The framework is monitored by a local training provider or college, and an appointed mentor/tutor. After the first year, college attendance drops to one day a week with the apprentices continuing their studies towards the ONC and then in some cases HNC/Foundation degree.

Upon completion of the apprenticeship people are usually skilled CNC machinists. We may consider sponsoring individuals on to degree level if they are particularly academically strong or have shown a particular commitment..
